Most frequent questions and answers

  • Wet cupping (Hijama) is a very simple procedure. It can be a bit uncomfortable but not painful if performed by an experienced and trained practitioner. As a matter of fact, some clients have said, it feels relaxing or ticklish while having it performed.

  • Yes, hygiene and cleanliness are very critical and important to us. We ensure that we keep ample supply of new cups on hand and use only brand new cups for every client. Supplies are “one-time use only” and are disposed of in front of the client after every use.

  • Usually sessions take anywhere between 30 – 40 minutes.

  • In most cases yes. However, sometimes you see the positive effects after a few days.

  • It is highly recommended that you should get wet cupping (Hijama) and dry cupping performed on an empty stomach because sometimes you can feel nauseated during a hijama session. It is imperative that you have a minimum of 2-3 hours fast to avoid any complications during or after the session. You can drink plenty of water.

  • Some rare after effects that may occur are, dizziness or lightheadedness, fainting, blurred vision, nausea and fatigue.

PRE-TREATMENT CARE INSTRUCTIONS (only for Hijama)

  • DO NOT stop or reduce medication without their doctors permission

  • Do not to eat 2-3 hours before the appointment time

  • Drink plenty of water

If you are taking medication which needs to be taken with or after food, please wait and take your medication immediately after the session with food to avoid any negative after effects:

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness

  • Fainting

  • Blurred vision

  • Shock

  • Nausea

  • Fatigue

  • Lack of concentration

POST-TREATMENT CARE INSTRUCTIONS (only for Hijama)

  • Do not eat/drink dairy food for 24 hours.

  • Do not drink caffeine for 24 hours.

  • Drink water after cupping treatment.

  • Do not eat red meat for 24 hours.

  • Eat a solid, healthy, balanced diet after cupping treatment.

  • Skin colouration and incisions will heal in 2-10 days or more.

  • You can take a quick shower rinse, but do not use soap, shampoo or chemicals.

  • Do NOT soak in a bathtub or go swimming for 24 hours after wet cupping.

  • You MUST rest after a session. Do NOT physically over exert yourself, exercise, chores etc.

  • Do regular, moderate light exercise after 24 hours and make this a regular routine.
